Jeremy Clarkson’s latest column mentioned Greta Thunberg needing a ‘smacked bottom’ following the teen’s appearance at the COP26 climate change summit appearance, and people aren’t happy.
Clarkson’s Farm presenter expressed his opinion on the 18-year-old activist writing in his column in the Sunday Times: “simply don’t get the Thunberg phenomenon.
“She has no knowledge of how the world works, no manners and no letters after her name because instead of going to school, she’s been busy sailing round the world so she can be mardy and abusive to grown-ups.” He added: “What she needs is a smacked bottom.”

His word choice has angered Twitter users with many taking to the platform to express their opinions on his choice of words. One user wrote: “61 year old Jeremy Clarkson calling for 18 year old Greta Thunberg to have her bottom smacked deserves a far more WTAF????”.
Whilst another wrote: “That Jeremy Clarkson thought it was ok to write that Greta Thunberg needs “a smacked bottom”… And the Times decided it was ok to publish… I simply cannot fathom. What year have I time-travelled back to exactly?”.

Whilst others agreed with his article with one user writing: “Just read @JeremyClarkson in the Sunday Times, if I hadn’t thought he was wonderful before I do now! The article was succint and bang on regarding Greta Thunberg”
Clarkson’s is currently filming for the second series of his eagerly awaited Clarkson’s Farm for Amazon Prime. The first series received praise from critics, farmers and viewers alike for highlighting current issues facing the farming community.
