Monopoly fans rejoice, because McDonald’s much-loved Monopoly game is back – and it’s sooner than we think!
Returning this year, McDonald’s has confirmed that customers will officially be able to play again in 2021. The annual competition game lasts around 41 days each year, with customers able to snap up some huge prizes such as cash, holidays, cars and even tasty treats from McDonalds. Let’s face it though, the most we’re getting is the Apple Pie about 5,000 times.
The game consists of customers collecting stickers with every purchase, however stickers are only available on McDonald’s meals, fries and the drinks (list not conclusive). If you fancy earning more stickers, simply go large for a couple of extras and more chances to win.
This years prizes are yet to be announced, however judging by previous years, we can expect some huge prizes up for grabs including massive cash prizes (last year was £100k!), cars, an expensive holiday, and lots of McDonald’s food prizes.
In a statement released last July, McDonald’s said: “To enable safe working and social distancing inside our restaurants and to minimise the pressure on our employees, we have decided to cancel this year’s Monopoly VIP campaign.
“It creates a great deal of excitement inside our restaurants and relies heavily on menu items we cannot safely reintroduce yet.
“Rest assured, we are already planning for Monopoly 2021 and hope to be able to bring this popular promotion back next spring.”
However, on social media today McDonald’s revealed Monopoly VIP will be back later this year.
On Facebook, McDonald’s said: “The news you’ve all been waiting for… Monopoly returns Summer 2021.”
We cannot wait, after missing last year’s we’ll even be happy with the free apple pies! We are waiting to hear a date of when it will return.
