The Magical Woodland Retreat Complete With Roll-Top Baths And Peaceful Surroundings

North Star Club is a remarkable woodland retreat nestled in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds – taking outdoor living to a whole other level. A lavish, extravagant stay inspired by early 19th and 20th century woodland hotels where wealthy industrialists might stay, the intimate hideaway matches the beautiful East Yorkshire countryside where it resides.

The brainchild of award-winning ex-designers Christian and Carolyn North, the peaceful place is inspired by Christian’s American heritage and his Canadian Grandmother’s tales of American Great Camps. What you’re met with as a result is magic, serene and indulgent escape that fits seamlessly within the forest it sits in.

The site consists of eight suites in total – including five woodland suites and three hideout suites which are all fitted with central heating. Four of the woodland suites aptly provide subtle nods to Yorkshire icons with their unique designs, a fitting tribute given the sites location. A leather and bearskin effect suite reflects Amy Johnson – the Yorkshire pilot who was the first woman to fly from England to Austria. Other homages include Abraham Moon, Dame Edith Sitwell and Elizabeth Woodville – all of which have rooms inspired by their histories and personalities.

The woodland suites are spaced 25 metres apart for privacy and have their very own verandas, sitting rooms and two bedrooms. The master bedrooms have their own wood burners, and the other room is complete with bunk beds – perfect for kids, or for friends joining your retreat. The suites also come with indulgent spa-style bathrooms, where you can relax after a day in the countryside with a tipple of your choice, before sitting on the veranda and enjoying your surroundings. To really make the most of luxury setting, in-room spa treatments by The North Star’s resident Elemis-trained beauty therapists are available to book.

The most spectacular feature of North Star Club, however, has to be their elegant Star suite. Kick back and enjoy bubbles in a polished copper bath with its own infra-red sauna, get nice and cosy in your very own four-poster bed, or lounge around in a very stylish sitting room with friends, catching up over a bottle (or three).

In addition to the luxurious suites, North Star Club houses a number of ‘hideouts’, which are complete with rustic four-poster beds, as well as comfy sofa beds. The hideouts are perfectly decorated in a rugged, vintage style, with a large sweeping veranda and wood burner to keep you toasty all year round.

If that wasn’t all, the beautiful site features an atmospheric communal space called The Woodshed, where you can get snuggled up by the fire with a cup of coffee and a homemade cake, or chill outside under their gorgeous canopy – which is situated by a campfire, perfect for stargazing on a summer’s eve.

It’s not self-catering, but if you fancy a romantic supper under the stars, you can arrange a BBQ pack and breakfast hampers straight to your suite. Although, if you don’t fancy that – there are plenty of pubs and restaurants nearby. If you’re feeling extra fancy, get yourself booked in at one of Yorkshire’s finest Michelin Star restaurants, The Pipe & Glass.

Prices start at just £125, and you can find out more information about your stay here.
