Next month is the North York Moors Railway’s Annual Steam Gala 2024 where up to eleven splendid steam locomotives will be showcased over the four-day event. You can enjoy the fantastic home-fleet engines as well as special guest locomotives.
The old-fashioned trains with the steam billowing out the stop still fascinates. Maybes it’s the charm of the beautiful creations or maybe the nostalgia of a lost era of transport. Either way, the NYMR Annual Steam Gala is sure to be a fantastic family-friendly day out – especially knowing the kids go free.
Taking place from Thursday 26th September to the 29th September 2024, steam enthusiast will visit to enjoy. Two guest train include Pendennis Castle, which was built in 1924. The locomotive gained fame in 1925 by outperforming Flying Scotsman during trials on the East Coast main line is the first 4-6-0 steam locomotive to circumnavigate the globe.

The second is Omaha, meanwhile, was built in America in 1943, shipped to the UK and after the Allied invasion of Europe, it was sent to France in September 1944 and operated throughout Europe. There is also a third surprise locomotive that you’ll have to wait and see about.
Tickets are £49.50 for adults and free for kids, with multi-day tickets available as well. You ticket will allow you to hop-on and hop-off all day long, with stops at Pickering Station where you’ll find trade stalls, Grosmont where you can visit the Shed Shop.
Tickets also include entry to the Annual Steam Gala Beer Festival at Goathland from Thursday to Sunday showcasing local beers such as Whitby, Wold Top and Ainsty.
You can also get a brew at the tea rooms at Pickering, Lewisham, Goathland and Grosmont before you cathching your next vintage train.
