1. The Star Inn at Harome
Ok, so we’re starting off with the crème de la crème of North York Moors pubs here, but Michelin star The Star Inn at Harome is a truly special dining experience – and their Sunday roast is no exception.
Beautifully presented with flavour oozing out of every single item on the plate, guests can enjoy dishes such as roast sirloin of Marwood’s Village reared beef and roast loin of Yorkshire-reared pork – both of which are served with locally grown veggies and trimmings. What’s it near to? 📍 Helmsley and Rievaulx – as well as the beautiful Rievaulx Abbey – are nearby to the pub, however, The Star Inn at Harome is a tourist attraction in itself.
2. The Crown, Hutton-le-Hole
Located in the stunning chocolate box village of Hutton-le-Hole, The Crown is a really cosy pub – perfect to visit all year round. And while they serve up some pretty yummy pub grub in the week, it’s the Sunday roast that has us salivating.

3. Fox & Rabbit, Lockton
Nearby to the gorgeous Dalby Forest, the Fox & Rabbit uses locally-sourced produce to create each and every dish – resulting in one of the North York Moors’ finest Sunday roasts.
Served with a massive Yorkshire Pudding (because no true Yorkshire dweller has time for a measly little pud!), guests can get stuck into roast sirloin of beef, roast loin of pork, roast turkey and slow roasted Lamb shank – all complete with potatoes, veggies and rich gravy. So, it might not be a pub – but it is a gorgeous, airy bistro found in pretty Helmsley. And the food is absolutely lovely.
Boasting views of Helmsley Castle from every window, the bistro serves up a proper Sunday roast – completely doused in gravy and including all the trimmings. Expect massive Yorkshire puddings, crispy roasties, and some of the finest meats around. Mannion & Co, 5 Castlegate,

5. The Blacksmith’s Arms, Swainby
Providing the proper pub vibes that folks flock to the countryside for, The Blacksmith’s Arms is a lovely spot to settle down after a walk around the North York Moors, with plenty of choice on the Sunday menu.
True Northerners, however, will, of course, always opt for the Sunday roast – which luckily for us, is top class at The Blacksmith’s. Expect roast topside of beef, roast leg of lamb, chicken breast, leg of pork and even a trio if you can’t decide.

6. The White Swan, Ampleforth
A cosy Yorkshire pub with a warming welcome and beautiful interiors, The White Swan is a stunning place to kick back and relax with a glass of wine and a hearty dinner – with Sunday roasts naturally on the menu.
