If you’ve ever been off work ill, or, like us, became obsessed with the Channel 5 show in lockdown, you may be familiar with Paul Bohill, star of the Channel 5 show Can’t Pay? We’ll Take It Away. Well, the bailiff has brought an East Yorkshire pub back to life.
Known for his cool head on the show, Paul welcomed hundreds of people over the Bank Holiday to the recently reopened The Plough Inn in the village of Hollym after bringing the old pub back to life. Located near Withernsea, the pub was in a dire state, but has received a huge facelift.
At a time when pubs are closing all over the country, this good news story is great to see. Paul and his business partner Andrew Ward had a two-day beer festival over the May bank holiday with five local bands playing music, and thanks to the weather, the beer garden was packed.

HullLive reported that Paul said: “It’s the biggest event the village has had in 50 years.”
He continued: “People visiting have said it’s absolutely fantastic, with pubs closing all over the country, that this has opened. We’ve got the pool teams coming in, the walkers, and free hot drinks in our warm space.”
The East Yorkshire coast is full of hidden gems, and we should know as it’s our home. And, we have a few favourite pubs that come to life when the sun shines. It’s one of the most beautiful parts of the country, with the dramatic coastline doing most of the work, offering unique views and vast stretches of beach that draw in the crowds each year.
