If you’re a big wine drinker then you’ll be happy with the news that you’ll soon be able to order wine by then pint. They way you buy wine may change for ever as the UK is set to deal with the age-old problem of measurements.
Those mini one-glass bottles just aren’t enough sometimes – and a whole bottle can seem excessive. Well, thanks to innovation in the wine industry, people are being given more choice. The new ‘pint’ size wines will hit the shelves for the first time ever in 2023 thanks to new freedoms after leaving the European Union.
900 British vineyards including Yorkshire vineyards too are set to benefit from the act, according to the Government, and we will see sparkling wine sold in measurements such as 200ml, 500ml and 568ml pint sizes in shops, bars and restaurants across the nation.

The Department for Business and Trade announced the news yesterday (27th December), LADbible reports. We can’t wait to grab a 568ml pint size bottle of wine. With 12.2 million bottles produced a year, we can imagine so many others are as well.

The Minister for Enterprise, Markets and Small Business Kevin Hollinrake has said that it’ll give producers and consumers ‘innovation, freedom and choice’. He said: “Our exit from the EU was all about moments just like this, where we can seize new opportunities and provide a real boost to our great British wineries and further growing the economy.”
Nicola Bates, CEO of WineGB added: “We welcome the chance to be able to harmonise still and sparkling bottle sizes and we are happy to raise a glass to the greater choice that allows UK producers for domestic sales.”
