York is about to get a thrill like no other as the Rocky Horror Picture Show is set to take over the Grand Opera House in York, with 80s pop star Jason Donovan taking centre stage as Frank ‘n’ Furter, donning the makeup and fishnets for the greatest rock ‘n’ roll musical known for its outrageous outfits and catchy tunes.
Telling the story of Brad and fiancée Janet, two college kids who meet Dr. Frank ‘n’ Furter by chance after their car breaks down outside his house while on their way to visit their favourite college professor. It’s coming to the Grand Opera House in York city centre from the 21st October to the 26th October.
Tickets are on sale now for what will be the event of the year. Rocky Horror shows are iconic for audiences turning up in amazing outfits in a carnivalesque extravaganza to enjoy the timeless songs and flamboyant costumes.
It’s sure to be a night of fun with the genre-jumping show that combines science-fiction, horror, comedy, and music with a big dose of audience participation as well.
Directed by Christopher Luscombe, the show, which has run for over 50 years, includes popular hits such as ‘The Time Warp’, ‘Sweet Transvestite’, ‘Science Fiction/Double Feature’, ‘Dammit Janet’ and the timeless floor-filler.
And if all that didn’t convince you, Jason Donovan, who’s featured in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat as well as having huge pop hits, will be starring in the performance as well. He has sold over 13 million albums worldwide and continues to tour with his live show. He has also featured in Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Grease The Musical.
