This Magical Torchlit Procession In Charming Yorkshire Village Takes Place This Weekend

The dark nights may feel dreary for some, where the idea of leaving the house seems unappealing. But this magical festive event in West Yorkshire might just have you reaching for your warm winter jacket and braving the cold! Haworth’s much-loved torchlight parade is back this weekend, promising merriment, twinkling lights, and much, much more in beautiful Brontë Country.

A torchlit procession will light up one of Yorkshire’s finest streets, filling it with the warm glow of fire and festive cheer. The event takes place on both Saturday, 7th December, and Sunday, 8th December, so you can enjoy it on either date—or both if you’re feeling especially merry! The procession starts at the bottom of Main Street at 5:30 PM.

Although the torchlit procession is the highlight, there’s plenty to do in Haworth throughout the weekend. A festive craft fair will take place all day in the Old School Rooms, while Santa’s Grotto will provide the perfect opportunity for little ones to meet the big man himself.

Live performances include the soothing tones of Haworth’s Ukulele Group, dancing from Sowerby Bridge Morris Group, and a grand finale featuring the Hebden Bridge Band. On Sunday, 8th December, the festivities will continue with a carol service at St. Michael & All Angels Church at 6:30 PM, where everyone is welcome to join.

In addition to the events, you’ll find fantastic independent shops, restaurants, and pubs to explore, ensuring you can stay warm and keep up the festive spirit throughout the day.

Important Note for Dog Owners: While Haworth is very dog-friendly, this event may not be suitable for pets. The torchlight procession will be densely populated, with real flames and a bustling atmosphere, which could be overwhelming for dogs. Your understanding helps us ensure everyone’s safety—including your furry friends!

So, wrap up warm and head to Haworth for a magical weekend filled with festive cheer. If you’d like more information head over to the Facebook page here.
