There is nothing quite like enjoying a cocktail or two while overlooking a beautiful city skyline in summer. And, with the year we’ve had, I think most Brits will be spending as much time as possible in the great outdoors. With that in mind, we’ve scoured God’s Own Country for some of the best rooftop bars in Yorkshire that it has to offer and we’ve think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. 1. Sora, York

York city has one of the most beautiful skylines of all the cities in the UK. With stunning architecture, the famous Roman walls and of course the York Minster, who wouldn’t want to look out over it whilst enjoying a few drinks and some delicious food? Malmaison hotel allows you to dine on its rooftop restaurant Sora offering outdoor dining and arguable the best views in the city from the roof terrace.

Sora, sits above the city on the seventh floor and offers up mix and match small plates. From a tasty selection of sushi, and Robatayaki to pan-Asian tapas dishes. All to be enjoyed with a signature cocktail in hand taking in the breathtaking panoramic views of York not available anywhere else in the city.

2. Kelu, Sheffield

Kelu translates to sky in Sardinian dialect and is a sunset bar found in the heart of Sheffield’s coolest district, Kelham Island. Guests can expect Mediterranean vibes where they can sit back and relax whilst looking out over Sheffield’s skyline from the top of the Krynkl development – which is a cluster of shipping containers.

Brought to you by Sardinian restaurant Domo, expect a small but perfectly formed cocktail menu, featuring mixes from near & far. As well as cleverly formed dishes & appetisers, designed to transport you to a warm evening on a Sardinian terrace.

3. Angelica, Leeds

Set on the sixth floor in Leeds Trinity, Angelica is a stylish and modern bar that looks out over the city of Leeds. It has a beautiful roof terrace that has amazing views, which people can enjoy while sipping on the high-quality range of beverages that Angelicas provide. It is one of the coolest places to visit if you love getting dressed up and getting on the cocktails with the gals.

4. Green Room, Leeds

The Green Room was named one of the best rooftop bars in Europe by Big7 travel. It offers, a little craft beer and ales from local breweries like Northern Monk, Kirkstall Brewery and Magic Rock as well as a selection of cocktails and a spritz menu all perfect drinks to enjoy on his brand new roof terrace bar. They also have a brunch food offering from Braizin’ Squad.

Expect tonnes of greenery and bench tables helping you meet a whole host of new mates on a night out. They have DJ’s on from Thursday to Saturday helping you party into the early hours.

5. The Lexington Rooftop Bar & Terrace, Hull

Whether you’re looking to treat yourself to afternoon tea or something a little stronger this rooftop bar is giving you all the views of Hull’s amazing skyline. The only entry from Hull, these guys fly the flag for East Yorkshire that’s for sure. What a beautiful sun-trap for a summers day. They serve up a range of fantastic cocktails, beers as well as sharing boards.

6. Sebu, Hull

Found on the 12th Floor of the K2 building, customers can enjoy views over Hull including Hull Minster and the Wolds whilst enjoy a romantic dinner or meal out with friends. SEBU is a unique restaurant, wine & cocktail bar, serving Filipino-Hispanic influenced small plates and hearty dishes, alongside a variety of steaks and bbq meats.

They even serve up some fantastic cocktails inspired by the region with an added touch of flair, which pair nicely with the views and the food.

7. The Habit Cafe Bar, York

The Habit is a small bar that has everything you’d want from York. Great ales and a stunning view of the fabulous York Minster from the rooftop terrace. Set away from the main areas of tourism in York, it’s a real treat to be enjoyed when visiting the historic city.

8. Revolution, Huddersfield

The student town of Huddersfield’s Revolution has everything you’d expect from a Revs, great cocktails, a great atmosphere and the best bit, a roof terrace where you can enjoy a cocktail or two in the summer sun. Revolution always manages to stay on trend with regards to cocktail flavours and its food offering, so you know if you’re looking to spend the day in the sun that these guys are going to give you a decent meal.

9. MOJO, Harrogate

Cuurently, closed for a refurb, Mojo in Harrogate is a cool bar that serves up their own original cocktails as well as some of the classic. They also serve a whole host of beers and BBQ food which you can enjoy with good tunes. They have a beautiful roof terrace where you can chill in the sunshine and enjoy the views of beautiful Harrogate.

10. 21 The High Street, Tadcaster

Based in Tadcaster, West Yorkshire, 21 The High Street served up beautiful stone-baked pizzas and a variety of refreshing bevs that you can enjoy on the amazing outdoor terrace. It’s the perfect place if you’re looking to get out of the cities but still want that rooftop vibe.
