If you are looking for something a little different this summer. Yorkshire’s oldest seaside town, Scarborough, is hosting its famous Naval Warfare show once It’s back again for 2026 and is kicking off the season with a bang as part of the Armed Forces Day celebrations on 27 June.
The famous Naval Warfare show will take place at Peasholm Park at 3pm, transforming the lake into a dramatic battle zone as 20ft replica warships recreate thrilling sea battles, complete with explosions, smoke, and sound effects. This unique family-friendly spectacle has been entertaining visitors since 1927 and remains one of Scarborough’s most cherished attractions.
Set within the heart of Peasholm Park, the show takes place against the backdrop of one of the UK’s finest Oriental-themed municipal parks. Opened in 1912, the park features a picturesque boating lake, a pagoda-style island, waterfalls, streams, bridges, and tranquil woodland walks, making it a popular destination for visitors throughout the year.
The 30-minute performance turns the park’s stunning Asian-inspired gardens into an immersive outdoor theatre, combining action-packed battle scenes with storytelling and maritime history. The replica warships, many of which are based on famous vessels from the Royal Navy and German fleets, are operated by skilled volunteers who bring the dramatic encounters to life on the water.
Following Armed Forces Day, the battles will continue throughout the summer season. Shows will take place every Monday and Thursday from 20 July, before expanding to every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday throughout August, with the final performance scheduled for 31 August.
Visitors can make a day of their trip by exploring the park’s gardens, enjoying a ride on the boating lake, or taking in views from the park’s elevated pathways and bridges before settling in for the afternoon’s entertainment.
Tickets cost £5.50 for adults, £2.50 for under-16s, or £14.50 for a family ticket covering two adults and two children under 16.
