A Stephen Graham procedural comedy drama also starring Daniel Mays and Anna Maxwell-Martin has been released on NOW TV. It originally aired back in 2020 and had three seasons – and we don’t know how we missed it the first time around.
We love a bit of Stephen Graham at The Yorkshireman, and to hear he’s done a show with Yorkshire’s own Anna Maxwell-Martin, who hails from Beverley, East Yorkshire.
What’s Code 404 about?

Set in the near future, Code 404 follows two detectives: DI Roy Carver, played by Stephen Graham and Unit DI John Major, played by Daniel Mays of the Met Police Special Investigation. Major gets killed on the job and – with the unit worried about its future – an unusual solution is created. Major’s body is put into a new AI programme, which sees him brought back to life, but as they begin work on cases together, Carver realises something isn’t quite right.
The plot thickens when it comes to light that Carver and Major’s wife, played by Anna Maxwell-Martin, have a closer relationship than we first think. There are three series of the hit show, which is a hilarious change from the usual gritty crime dramas.
If this sounds like a bit of you…
You can catch all three series of Code 404 via the NOW streaming platform here.
