The Furlough Scheme Has Now Been Extended To March 2021, Government Confirms

Chancellor Rish Sunak has confirmed that he will extend the furlough scheme across the UK until the end of March. The scheme will pay up to 80% of a person’s wage up to £2,500 a month. Speaking in the Commons, Sunak said the situation will be reviewed in January.

The chancellor said his intention was “to give businesses security through the winte… The security we are providing will protect millions of jobs,” he added.

The good news is that anyone that has been made redundant after 23rd September can be rehired and put back on furlough.

Self-employed people will also be getting support, Mr Sunak announced help through the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS). Grants will cover 80% of trading profits from November to January up to a maximum of £7,500.
