Doncaster’s First Inclusive LGBTQ+ Bar Is Opening Next Month

Doncaster is getting a new bar which aims to offer an “all-inclusive safe space” for the LGBTQIA+ community. The new venue will be in the town centre and is a two-storey venue named The Library – which is a nod to the ‘reading’ element of RuPaul’s Drag Race.

The new bar will officially ope its doors Friday 21st May at 12pm. The new venue is hoping to be a hit with locals as will have three drag queens from RuPaul’s Drag Race appearing at the bar.

The new bar will we open to all but as reported by the Doncaster Press, Owner Sam Teale-Price said: “We want Doncaster’s LGBTQIA+ community to have somewhere they can call their own.

“There hasn’t been anywhere for people to go since Bar NY and Crystals in the Market Place closed. This will be an all-inclusive safe space for everyone to enjoy and have a good time.”

In July Sum Ting Wong will be appearing, and in September, Veronica Green will also be putting in an appearance and in October Tia Kofi is paying Doncaster a visit.

The new venue will take the place of the former indie rock venue, Vintage Rockbar. There will be a downstairs dancefloor area that has more of a ‘club vibe’. The upstairs will have a more chilled vibe more in keeping with the name with old vintage decor and a pink pool table.

The venue intends to feature new and upcoming drag queens as a part of its entertainment when it opens. Doncaster Free Press reported that Manager Sam Teale-Price said: “We are also in talks with other RuPaul queens from the UK and USA to try and get them booked to perform here.

“Doncaster hasn’t had an LGBTQIA+ bar since Bar NY and Crystals closed there doors years ago, so we want to give the LGBTQIA+ community something to look forward to.”

If you’d like to get tickets for any of these shows, get your tickets here. If that’s got your fancy, make sure you don’t miss out on RuPaul’s Drag Race huge tour next year, which will include a visit to our own Sheffield
