Ever fancied yourself a bit of an Amanda Owen? A Kaleb Cooper? Adam Henson? Then you’re in luck. Because this Yorkshire Dales experience allows guests to get their hands dirty – testing out their skills on a real, working farm.
At The Wensleydale Experience, guests are invited to roll up their sleeves and get to work – as part of an experience that lifts the veil on the goings on at Swinithwaite estate.
Located in the heart of the Dales, the picturesque farm is home to highland cattle, sheep, pigs and more, meaning there are plenty of cute animals to meet during your day on the farm.
During the 3.5-hour experience, newbie farmers will be tasked with feeding Highland cattle and the farm’s rare breed pigs, mucking out, and even help with moving the animals when needed, too.
The experience promises to teach visitors the importance of the farm-to-plate process, sustainability practices, and the history behind the Dale’s drystone walls – making for a fun day out for those interested in rural life.
The best part? Guests get to kick off the day in proper Yorkshire style, with a hearty breakfast or cream tea in the farm’s cafe to fuel up before a day of work.
For those wanting to extend their ‘new life on the farm’, guests can also opt for a farm stay in one of the estate’s luxury yurts (or even a temple folly!), each kitted out with everything you need to wind down after a day on the farm.
Guests can kick off their boots and take a dip in their own private hot tub, or enjoy an al fresco dinner made on their very own BBQ. All before retreating to their yurt which is complete with a comfy double bed, sofa seating, a shower, and a loo. Some of the yurts are even located right next to the animals, for those looking to amplify their experience.

The Wensleydale Experience is ideally located on the North side of the Dales, near Bolton Castle, The Forbidden Corner, and Aysgarth Falls – all fantastic family-friendly experiences, with great pubs nearby such as The Wensleydale Heifer and The Blue Lion in East Witton.
