The Yorkshire Dales Is Set To Get Its Own Monopoly Board

Everyone’s had a family argument over Monopoly – whether that’s on a rainy day or over the Christmas period. We’ve already seen versions of Doncaster, Sheffield, Harrogate and more. And, now the Yorkshire Dales is set to get its own version of the world’s most famous board game.

You have the choice to select what replaces London landmarks such as Leicester Square and Oxford Street on new Yorkshire Dales National Park Monopoly game with over 30 Dales landmarks to be featured on the board.

You’ll also be able to think up ideas for tokens to replace the car, hat dog etc maybe a pair of walking boots, Land Rover or a sheep?

Manufacturers Winning Moves UK, said the National Park was chosen ahead of others including the Amazon Rainforest and the Grand Canyon.

As standard you can expect customised Community Chest and Chance cards for the local area. The Yorkshire Dales was chosen due to the amount of famous landmarks and the level of tourist appeal it has.

Possible landmarks to be included on the board include: Ribblehead Viaduct, Buttertubs Pass, Jervaulx Abbey and Skipton Castle.

John Keen-Tomlinson from Winning Moves, said: “We are very excited by the challenge of putting this unique board for the Yorkshire Dales together.

Adding: “He said the public would also help decide on the design of the playing pieces.A pair of walking boots might replace the boot, with a bicycle, a slab of drystone wall and a slice of Wensleydale cheese being used for other pieces.”

Keen-Tomlinson said: “With crown jewels like Bolton Abbey and Malham Cove we expect to be wonderfully spoiled for choices producing this edition.”

If you’d like to nominate landmarks, customised cards and tokens featured in the game, you have until the 31st August. The Yorkshire Dales Monopoly game is expected to be released in May 2024.

People can send their suggestions by email to: dales@winningmoves.co.uk; or via the official MONOPOLY: Yorkshire Dales Edition game Facebook page.
