A big Monopoly fan? Love the Yorkshire Dales? Then we have the perfect game for you! The classic board game Monopoly now has a Yorkshire Dales edition full of fantastic points of interest from the popular national park
Instead of the traditional locations, you’ll find replacements of more than 30 local landmarks including, Malham Cove, Aysgarth Galls, Britain’s highest pub Tan Hall Inn, Settle Railway Station and Fountain’s Abbey, all voted for in a public vote. Taking over the most popular Mayfair spot from the original game is Bolton Abbey, with Aysgarth taking the place of Old Kent Road.
But, that’s not all! Instead of the usual playing pieces such as the car, Scottie dog, boot and there are special Yorkshire Dales items such as, a Craven Ram, a slab of Wensleydale Cheese, a pair of walking boots and miniature dry-stone wall.
The Yorkshire Dales version of Monopoly beat out other contenders sucha s the Amazon rainforest and the Grand Canyon to be chosen for a spin-off edition due to the number of famous landmarks within its boundaries and its globel appeal, according to a spokesperson from Winning Moves UK, which makes Monopoly.

The manufacturers of the game thanked the public for sending in their suggestions for landmarks to appear in the game with John Keen-Tomlinson, the custom games exec at Winning Moves saying: “The response from the public to Monopoly: Yorkshire Dales Edition has been overwhelming.”
He continued: “We have been absolutely spoilt with choices when putting this MONOPOLY game together, including the customised wording on Community Chest and Chance playing cards.”
As standard you can expect customised Community Chest and Chance cards for the local area. Players will also be penalised for such things as ‘wild camping’, or rewarded for ‘quality sheepdog trails’.
We’ve already seen versions of Doncaster, Sheffield, Harrogate and more. And, now the Yorkshire Dales is set to get its own version of the world’s most famous board game.
