‘The Yorkshire Vet’ Christmas Special Airs Tonight On Channel 5

The Yorkshire Vet shot to fame back in 2015 when it first launched on Channel 5. Since then a whole host of Yorkshire-based programmes have been launched on the channel known for championing God’s Own Country. Well, Peter Wright, Julian and then the gang are back for a The Yorkshire Vet Christmas special 2021, which is inspired by the festive film It’s A Wonderful Life.

For the first time on The Yorkshire Vet, Peter is turning his hand at acting for the show. The episode, which airs tonight at 8pm on Channel 5 will show Peter acting alongside former Doctor Who and All Creatures Great and Small actor Peter Davidson.

In the festive episode, the vet turned actor for this festive show, The Yorkshire Vet icon will perform in several scenes with Davidson. As well as the light entertainment, Peter will also be reflecting on his career spanning over 40 years.

Peter Wright has volunteered to be on call during the festive period every year since joining Skeldale Veterinary Centre in Thirsk 40 years ago. This festive episode sees Peter rush to a friend who has a pet turkey that has been attacked by a dog, and Matt operates on a terrier to remove a large tumour.

Meanwhile, Julian’s team are surprised by an unexpected visitor to the practice, a lost parrot that the team try to reunite with its owner

Posting to Facebook he wrote: “Hope everyone had a nice weekend. Don’t forget that tomorrow night it’s The Yorkshire Vet At Christmas, which this year is which is based on the Christmas classic ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’.”

“It stars ‘All Creatures Great & Small’ legend Peter Davison and all your favourite vets will be in action as well as some familiar famers (and to answer a very popular question, Mrs Green does make an appearance!) Plus Julian encounters something of a Christmas miracle when a stray parrot turns up at the practice. It’s on Channel 5 tomorrow at 8pm.”
