This Family-Run Farm In Yorkshire Is Hosting Its First-Ever Tulip Festival This Spring With 250,000 Tulips

Winter feels like it has been going on forever (and it’s been so wet). So, the idea of flowers in bloom seems a long way off. But we’ve started spotting snowdrops offering flecks of white and a small moment of hope; we always see this as the first sign that spring will soon be back. And if you need something to look forward to, Spilman’s — best known for its pumpkin festivals — is putting on its first-ever Tulip Festival.

The family-run farm is inviting everyone to enjoy fields of tulips this April. Based in North Yorkshire near Thirsk, they’ve planted 250,000 tulip bulbs across three acres. There will be 50 different varieties, including Rhapsody of Smiles, Crystal Beauty, Uncle Tom and Eagle Wings.

From early bloomers to mid- and late-season varieties, the farm is set to keep visitors surrounded by tulips throughout the festival, with a constant flow of flowers in bloom. Each variety brings its own burst of colour, shape and size.

Set in a picturesque landscape, visitors can enjoy a stroll through the tulip fields and let themselves be enveloped in a burst of colour — something that feels especially welcome after a bleak winter.

It’s a family-friendly experience in nature, offering a chance to unwind in a stunning part of the country. There will be 12 photo opportunities across the fields, giving visitors the chance to capture the perfect memory and let Mother Nature inspire their creativity.
