This Idyllic Yorkshire Seaside Town Has Been Named Best Place To Stay In The UK

Summer holidays are in full swing, and if you’ve not booked any trips away or are looking for somewhere local for a staycation then you want to read on. You don’t need to go abroad this year, according to Airbnb who’s noted that one of Yorkshire’s beautiful seaside towns has been named the top trending destination for 2022.

Hornsea in East Yorkshire topped the list for seaside destinations in the UK, with the data based on year-on-year growth in accommodation user nights booked on Airbnb.

Hornsea wasn’t the only Yorkshire seaside town to feature in the list with Redcar in seventh place and Scarborough in tenth.

A spokesman from Airbnb commented on Hornsea’s jump in popularity saying: “Jumping from eighth place in 2021 to the leading spot, Hornsea is attracting UK travellers with its quaint promenade and historical Victorian folly, making the quintessential British seaside town a must-visit this year.

“Hidden gems in the North West of the country, including Fleetwood and Formby, are also proving popular with Brits as staycations are embraced for another year.”

“These trending UK seaside destinations highlight that some Brits are opting to spend their summers at seaside resorts across the country, soaking up the heatwave on home soil and swapping far-flung destinations for the nostalgic pleasures of fish and chips, rock pooling and ice cream vans.”

It’s no surprise to us that Yorkshire has featured heavily in the trending list with its beautiful sea views and countless amazing fish & chip shops.
