Get ready to witness the skies above the Yorkshire coast come to life with radiant hues as Light Night 2024 returns. It promises to be more dazzling than ever before. Spanning from the picturesque shores of Bridlington to the haunting cliffs of Whitby, this captivating laser show will enchant audiences from near and far.
Kicking off on tonight (Monday, February 26th), and running until Sunday, March 3rd, from 7pm to 10pm each evening, the technicolor spectacle will illuminate the coastline, stretching up to 25 miles away on a clear night shining a light on iconic locations and landmarks across the Yorkshire coast.
The laser displays will be nothing short of mesmerising, each location carefully chosen to enhance the coastal experience. Picture this: The Forum in Bridlington adorned with lights, casting a radiant glow over Sewerby; the historic Whitby Abbey, shrouded in gothic mystery, now illuminated by vibrant lasers atop West Cliff; and the majestic Raven Hall Hotel in Ravenscar, offering a stunning backdrop against the rugged Dinosaur coastline.

But it’s not just about the visuals; Light Night is a celebration of Yorkshire’s rich heritage and community spirit. From the bustling promenade in Withernsea to the bustling harbor in Scarborough, each location tells a story of the region’s history and identity. And let’s not forget the iconic Chalk Tower in Flamborough, proudly standing as England’s oldest surviving lighthouse, beckoning spectators to gather and behold its splendor.
Behind the scenes, Yorkshire Coast BID and Polestar Productions have joined forces to create this extraordinary event, with the aim of showcasing the region’s beauty after dark and attracting visitors beyond the peak tourist season. Kerry Carruthers, Chief Executive of Yorkshire Coast BID, expressed her excitement, emphasizing the event’s potential to evolve and grow in the years to come.
