‘I wish it could be Christmas every day’ sang Wizzard back in 1973. Well, whilst this might be a step too far, how about celebrating it in August? Yes, that’s right, after the huge success of the last two Bridmas events, it has been announced that it is returning for a third successive year in Bridlington. It returns on Wednesday 5th August from 10am to 4pm, bringing early festive cheer to the East Yorkshire Coast.
Get your Christmas jumper and shorts at the ready for a Christmas-themed family day of ice-creams, carols, Santa, games, mince pies, and so much more. The festival is taking over various locations around the town, Sewerby Hall and Gardens, Bridlington Spa, King Street Market, South Beach, and The Edge, to name but a few.
A Packed Schedule of Festive Fun
You won’t be short of things to do at Bridmas. There’s free entertainment, special guests, activities, and competitions, including:
- Free Showing of the Grinch Movie at Bridlington Spa
- The Coastal Voices Choir
- Santa’s Grotto
- Christmas Crafts
- Games such as Flying Reindeers, Dress the Snowman, and Round Robin
- Driffield Brass Band
- King Street Christmas Market
- Festival Face Painting
- Elf and Bubble Show
There is also a chance to win lots of prizes on the Christmas Cracker Trail. You’ll have to travel around the different festival locations hunting for all the hidden Christmas crackers. If you find them, you could win yourself some wonderful prizes, including tickets to The Edge, tickets to Shania Twain, a family pass to Sewerby Hall and Gardens, and so much more.
Showcasing Bridlington as a Year-Round Destination
As well as providing fun and memories for all the family, Bridmas aims to showcase Bridlington as a year-round destination. It highlights what the picturesque coastal town has to offer in the winter and that it is so much more than a summer holiday destination. Local Councillor Nick Coultish stated: “Bridmas Day has quickly become one of Bridlington’s most loved summer events, and it’s a fantastic way to showcase the creativity, community spirit and year‑round appeal of the town.’’
With this in mind, you can pick up exclusive discounts on December events, available only at Bridmas. This includes the Santa Express, the Cinderella Pantomime at Bridlington Spa, and Fairytales at Christmas at Sewerby Hall and Gardens.
So, let Christmas come early this year and take a trip to the East Yorkshire Coast this summer for some festive fun and celebrations mixed with a bit of summer sun.
