York has welcomed a brand-new food spot, and it’s putting a very Yorkshire twist on one of Britain’s favourite meals. Yorkshire Burrito is now open on Coney Street in the heart of York city centre, serving up giant Yorkshire pudding ‘burritos’ packed with all the best bits of a traditional roast dinner.
Think crispy roast potatoes, slow-cooked meats, stuffing, greens and plenty of proper gravy – all wrapped up inside a giant Yorkshire pudding. It’s essentially the best bits of a Sunday roast without having to wait until Sunday.
The Story Behind Yorkshire Burrito
The idea dates back to 2015, when the team came up with the concept of wrapping a roast dinner inside a giant Yorkshire pudding. Since then, Yorkshire Burrito has taken its take on the traditional Sunday lunch out of the dining room and onto the streets, serving customers at offices, events, markets and lunch breaks across the country.
Now, the concept has arrived in York, giving shoppers and city-centre workers a new option for a seriously comforting lunch.
What’s on the Menu?
The menu puts the giant Yorkshire pudding wrap firmly at the centre, with three main options:
- Beef Yorkshire Burrito – Soft-braised Herefordshire beef, sage and onion stuffing, roast potatoes, greens and signature gravy, all wrapped inside a giant Yorkshire pudding.
- Chicken Yorkshire Burrito – Roast chicken with lemon, thyme, honey and black pepper, combined with sage and onion stuffing, roast potatoes, greens and signature gravy.
- Cauliflower Cheese Yorkshire Burrito – Roasted cauliflower in a cheese and leek sauce, alongside stuffing, roast potatoes, greens and signature gravy.
And if you’re a serious gravy fan, you can add an extra drizzle of gravy to your burrito.
There are also some tempting alternatives if you don’t fancy the full Yorkshire pudding wrap:
- Loaded Roasties – Roast potatoes with grilled cheese, signature gravy and crispy onions, with the choice of beef, chicken or cauliflower leek cheese.
- Mash & Gravy – Homemade mashed potato with signature gravy, with beef or chicken and crispy onions available as additions.
- Sides – A selection of extras to accompany your roast-inspired feast.
A New Food Spot on Coney Street
