Taskmaster has quickly become one of the best-loved shows on telly. Presented by the towering Greg Davies and his trusty sidekick Alex Horne, the show sees comedians take on a series of bizarre, hilarious, and often completely nonsensical tasks, all in the name of being crowned Taskmaster champion. And this upcoming series is especially exciting, as it features not one, but two Yorkshire legends.
Over the years, Taskmaster has welcomed the likes of Frank Skinner, Tim Key, Bob Mortimer, Katherine Ryan and many more. Now, Series 20 promises another stellar line-up, including Yorkshire-born stars Reece Shearsmith and Maisie Adam.

Shearsmith hails from Kingston upon Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire and is best known for The League of Gentlemen, Inside No. 9, and Psychoville, delighting fans with his dark and distinctive comedic style for decades. Maisie Adam, meanwhile, grew up in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, and first took to the stage at the Ilkley Literature Festival Fringe back in 2016. Since then, she’s gone on to become a hugely successful stand-up and a familiar face on a range of panel shows.
That means two-fifths of the new Taskmaster line-up are proudly from God’s Own Country – a stat we’re more than happy to shout about.
Joining them this series are comedian and writer Ania Magliano, stand-up comic from Preston Phil Ellis, and comedy royalty Sanjeev Bhaskar OBE. Bhaskar is known for his work on sketch show Goodness Gracious Me, hit sitcom The Kumars at No. 42, and countless other projects.
There’s no official air date just yet, but rest assured, we’ll keep you updated as soon as we hear more.
