There’s a café and bar in Leeds city centre that celebrates all things Yorkshire—from Henderson’s Relish beans to Yorkshire pudding burgers. If you haven’t already added Wapentake to your foodie bucket list, now’s the time.
Step inside and you’re immediately welcomed by a laid-back, cosy vibe. A cushioned corner invites you to settle in, while an old piano across the room looks ready for an impromptu singalong. Turn towards the bar, and you’ll find a stunning oak-wood counter serving a rotating selection of Yorkshire ales from BrewYork, Northern Monk, North Brewing Co, and Kirkstall Brewery. There’s also a well-stocked beer fridge full of local favourites.
The place describes itself as a little piece of Yorkshire, and we couldn’t agree more. The Wapentake Leeds menu has everything you could want—from a proper Full English to a Yorkshire breakfast featuring Sheffield’s iconic Henderson’s Relish beans.

One item that caught our eye? Breakfast Yorkshire puddings served with baked eggs, crispy bacon bits, and, of course, Henderson’s Relish. Naturally, it’s best enjoyed with a good ol’ cup of Yorkshire Tea.
The Legendary Yorkshire Pudding Burger
We love a burger, and we love a Sunday roast, so Wapentake’s Yorkshire pudding burger deserves a standing ovation. Forget the bun—this beauty swaps it out for two fluffy Yorkshire puddings. It’s a juicy, perfectly seasoned beef patty, topped with crispy bacon and melted cheese, all held together by those golden puds.
And because gravy is life, it comes with a personal gravy boat—because, let’s be honest, you can never have too much. Served alongside chunky, well-seasoned wedges, this meal is pure Yorkshire indulgence.
If you’re after a Sunday lunch, get down early—Wapentake Cafe in Leeds is always packed with people craving their legendary roasts. After trying their thick, rich gravy, we completely understand why.
