Returning as one of Whitby’s most exciting events, the beloved event sees the iconic Abbey lit up by night as it overlooks and reflects in the water, with stunning live performances also taking place for Yorkshire folk to enjoy.
Halloween and autumn events are quickly becoming the favourite for visitors across Yorkshire, especially over summer events. And, who can blame people after the summer we’ve had? A wonderful treat for those exploring the gothic town at a time when it thrives, the event will run from Friday 24th October to Monday 2nd November 2024, with events taking place each night from 6pm-9pm.
What are the ticket prices for Illuminated Abbey 2024?
Operating outside of Abbey’s usual opening times, guests will be required to purchase a ticket for the event – with adult tickets costing £5pp for members, and £12.50 for non-members.

Whitby Abbey, originally founded in the 7th century as a Christian monastery, later evolved into a Benedictine abbey. Perched on the East Cliff above Whitby in North Yorkshire, England, the abbey overlooked the North Sea and served as a key religious site in the medieval kingdom of Northumbria. This event is one of its most exciting, where you can witness the ancient Abbey lit up by night as it majestically overlooks and reflects in the water.
