The York Ice Sculpture Trail is back for 2027, bringing one of North Yorkshire’s most-loved winter events back to the city centre.
Looking for something exciting to do this winter? The York Ice Trail returns, with the streets of York transformed by stunning ice sculptures inspired by history and folklore, creating an extraordinary trail for visitors to explore.
After attracting more than 85,000 visitors in previous year, the event is back thanks to Make It York, with a spectacular trail of around 31 beautifully carved ice sculptures to discover across the city, if the same as previous years. It’s a brilliant family-friendly activity, encouraging visitors to explore York while hunting down each icy artwork.
What is the Date for York Ice Trail 2027
Sculptures will be dotted throughout the city centre — from the Park & Ride bus on Parliament Street to the Bettys Express Train on Davygate. The trail runs on 6 and 7 February 2027, and best of all, it’s completely free to attend. Sculptures can be viewed between 10.30am and 4pm, giving visitors plenty of time to soak up the winter magic.

Each sculpture is sponsored by a local business, whose support helps make the event possible. The previous Ice Trail proved hugely popular, with footfall exceeding 85,000 visitors over the weekend, highlighting the event’s growing appeal to both residents and tourists.
Sarah Loftus, managing director of Make It York, said: “The York Ice Trail is always a special moment in the city’s winter calendar. It’s a brilliant opportunity for families, residents and visitors to explore York, discover incredible ice sculptures and enjoy a little winter magic along the way. This year’s legends theme and the new added experiences are set to make it extra special!”
Trail maps will be available from 1 February 2027 online and from the Visit York Visitor Information Centre on Back Swinegate.
