York’s Christmas Market Named In The Top 20 Most Picturesque In Europe

York Chrismas Market is in full swing and is looking more festive than ever after a year’s hiatus due to covid restrictions last year. And, it looks ike people are taknig notice as the beautiful market, which is home to Thor’s Tipi has been named amongst the most picturesque in Europe.

Found on Parliament Square in the centre of York, the St Nicholas Fair has cabins back to back instead of adjacent to create more space for shoppers over the Crimbo season. It is full of great handcrafted gifts and artisan goods that are thoughtful gifts for anyone this Christmas.

It was revealed to be among the most photographed on the continent with over 6,446 posts on Instagram according to the campervan people, PaulCamper. It’s home to local businesses selling handmade gifts and delicious and unique tasty treats such as Yorkshire pudding wraps from the famous York Roast Company.

The company used a list of every Christmas market in Europe and analysed the number of hashtags each had on Instagram and came up with a definitive list of the most picturesque markets in Europe.

Out of 600 markets across Europe, York came in at 19 beating out Leeds and Berlin. In front of it were Manchester, Birmingham, Bath, London and in number one place was Zagreb market in Croatia.
