Yorkshire chippies seem to be given awards left-right and centre, and for good reason, too. There is nowt better than a good chippy up north. Something about how we fry our chips makes ’em much better than the rest. Don’t you agree? Well, TripAdvisor reviewers do – as they seem to love some of our best fish and chip restaurants this year, and they’ve given them that many positive reviews they caught the attention of the top dogs at TripAdvisor HQ.
These two Yorkshire restaurants have won a hugely prestigious TripAdvisor award. Catch West Vale and Catch Holmfirth both received the Travellers’ Choice award based on outstanding 2019 diner reviews – and this is by no means a huge feat and well deserved recognition for the hard work that goes on behind each of these fisheries.
The awards are based on a whole year of TripAdvisor reviews, and each establishment is picked for consistency of positive feedback. With so much positive feedback, the chippies have actually been placed in the top 10% of hospitality businesses around the globe. So, you can probably see why this is a big deal!
Catch has been serving its customers for five years now, and has set a huge example for how casual seafood dining should be done – consistently delivering quality fish and chips sourced from UK ports since 2015. The menu includes classic fish and chips, alongside popular starters of salt and pepper squid and tempura tiger prawns, and main courses including fish pie and moules mariniere.
The company is still expanding and has recently opened up a new shop in Headingley, Leeds. Look out for them on Weetwood Lane – with reviews like these, we can’t wait to get stuck into a good Friday chippy tea.
