Another major newspaper has picked up on what we’ve all known for a long time. That Yorkshire is one of the most – if not THE most – beautiful parts of the country. And named it the best place for a staycation. If you’ve followed us for a long time then you know we been fighting the fight for Yorkshire highlighting all the ways in which it has to be enjoyed.
The Express‘ travel writer Paul Tregunna named Yorkshire the best place for a staycation in 2024 – and we are buzzing to hear it. Since the pandemic a lot more people are looking closer to home for stays and with Yorkshire being home to two/ three amazing national parks as well as a stunning coastline and of course, close to our heart, the Yorkshire Wolds, it’s not surprise people heading to God’s Own Country.
In his reasoning for Yorkshire been the best staycation he highlights the amazing Howardian Hills and Nidderdale, which are both Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (which there are only 46 of in the UK).
Along with the natural beauty, he also highlights some of the features of three of Yorkshire’s eight cities. Firstly, he mentions Bradford, City of Culture for 2025, stating it “is home to the illuminating National Science and Media Museum (currently undergoing refurbishment) and the fascinating Bradford Industrial Museum.”

Next he names our favourite Yorkshire city, Hull, mention, of course, The Deep “an award-winning aquarium with over 5,000 animals that makes for a great family day out.”
And thirdly he discusses York, for “its cobbled streets are full of history. The Shambles, contrary to what its name may suggest, is an attractive street for visitors to wander around and explore the city’s Mediaeval past.”
So, there you have it. Yorkshire is once again named as one of the top spots to visit next year. We are buzzing to hear it and can’t wait to welcome more visitors to our fantastic tourist attractions across the UK’s biggest county.
