A Fun New Waterpark, Beach & Fairground Is Coming To Meadowhall This Summer

After reports last summer that Meadowhall could be getting a brand new family-friendly experience, planning permission has finally been granted for the project to go ahead – including a beach, waterpark, rides and so much more.

Described as a “summer-long retreat”, the brand new experience is expected to take over the shopping centre’s ‘Orange’ car park – and according to plans will consist of an aqua splash zone with inflatables, pools, rollercoaster rides, a beach area with 60 tonnes of sand, a dining space and even a cocktail bar.

If that wasn’t enough already, the plans for the event also include daily entertainment, beach volleyball, lilos for use, and even beach huts.

The pop-up event would conveniently sit outside of the centre’s Oasis food hall – providing even more dining options for visitors to enjoy.

Meadowhall Contracts previously said of the concept: “The concept of the summer deployment is a celebration of summertime and holidays, including sandy beaches, splash pools and water games, family rides and attractions, seaside games, gourmet foods, and daily entertainment programme of family fun, delivered by friendly staff.

“Parents are able to relax and shop, in the knowledge that their children can play in a self-contained, safe and clean environment. An entertainment team that will be deployed around the aqua splash and beach area, which will operate like holiday park entertainers with a different line up each day.”

The planning permission states that the pop-up event would take place during the school holidays between 1st July and 22nd September, however, Meadowhall is yet to confirm if they will be going ahead with the event.

The popular shopping centre also hoped that the event would run for five consecutive summers, however, it’s currently not confirmed whether those plans will go ahead.
