BBC’s ‘Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing’ Set To Return This Autumn

Good news! BBC’s Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing series 9 is officially on its way to our screens, bringing Bob and Paul back to the riverbank for another series of fun chats and stunning British scenery.

First airing on BBC Two in 2018, the show has become a fan favourite thanks to the comedic pair’s skill at discussing life’s big topics with the same irreverence that made them both household names. It’s a warm cuddle of a show that encourages men to share their feelings and makes you want to get out and enjoy the great outdoors.

Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing series 9 brings six brand-new adventures to rivers, lakes and coastlines across Britain.

One poignant aspect of this series is that it will be the last to feature the show’s much-loved third wheel, Ted the Patterdale Terrier. The characterful dog sadly died at the age of 13 earlier this year, but the BBC confirmed that he had already filmed an appearance for the forthcoming ninth series.

Mortimer also paid tribute to Ted, saying at the time: “So very, very sad. Lovely Ted, the best companion and the greatest little chum. Going to miss him so much… and away boss.”

Whitehouse added: “Bye bye Ted old friend. He wasn’t a dog, he was a species all of his own. He’s gone to the great briefcase emporium in the sky. We will really miss you mate.”

Series 9 of Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing is due to arrive on BBC Two this October, according to Facebook page Classic Tv Moments. An exact release date has yet to be announced.
