The Steel City has great character, and an even greater history and this can be seen in its range of places to enjoy a beer. From traditional pubs to innovative builds – one thing is for sure, we are spoilt for choice for a beer garden and outdoor bars in Sheffield this summer.
1. Saw Grinder’s Union

This is a beautiful venue hidden away in the ever-cool area of Kelham Island. It serves up refreshing cocktails, beers, and a range of spirits to be enjoyed in this well-designed and well thought out aesthetic. 2. Dam House Bar & Restaurant

Situated on Crookes Valley Park beside a serene lake that makes the perfect backdrop for summertime fun, The Damhouse offers a great atmosphere to enjoy with friends and family. 3. Gatsby

The iconic Sheffield bar and restaurant can be found on Division Street. It’s known for its weekend vibes full of cocktails, Mexican food and partying until the wee hours of the morn. 4. Picture House Social

One of our favourite Sheffield hangouts found in Abbeydale, Picture House Social can be found underground in the 1920s building with a cool sofa area. They also have a great terrace for summer days drinking with picnic bench seating. It’s one of Sheffield’s best beer gardens with plenty of colour and foliage to enjoy. 5. The Sheffield Tap

Found attached to the Sheffield train station, The Tap is a beautiful pub filled with charm and old-fashioned vibes. The outside beer garden is a great suntrap to sit and watch the world go by whilst enjoying a range of local and guest beers. 6. Domo

Found in the heart of Kelham Island, Domo is a family-run Sardinian restaurant, bar and deli. 7. The Nursery Tavern

On the edge of the Peak District, near the town of Loxley, The Nags Head is a beautiful little pub with a great beer garden. Perfect for if you’re heading out for a trek for the day – or just pitch up a spot and watch the world go by. 8. Riverside Kelham

One of Kelham Island’s iconic venues, Riverside Kelham has a beautiful view of the river and has all the traditional pub vibes but with a hipster twist that is synonymous with Sheffield. The beer garden is always buzzing with energy and is a cool place to while away the summer days with great tunes and proper beer. It’s definitely one of the great beer gardens in Sheffield. 9. The Lost & Found

Situate on the legendary Ecclesall Road, The Lost & Found specialise in seasonal dishes, afternoon tea, and expertly crafted cocktails. The raised patio is like a secret garden that’s the perfect place to do some people watching alongside one of Sheffield’s busiest streets. 10. Forum Kitchen + Bar

This city centre venue is always busy and buzzing with energy – with good reason. They serve up some excellent food and a range of refreshing beers, ciders and cocktails that will make you feel all summery inside. 11. The Mill Owners Arms

12. The Nags Head

On Ecclesall Road, this one is a favourite with the students. It has a huge beer garden – which makes it great for getting a seat and always has a great vibe. 13. The Gardeners Rest

Another great find in the Kelham Island area, this community-owned pub in Neepsend serves a great selection of beer on tap and has a relaxed laid back vibe. They usually have art exhibitions and such going on, so always worth a visit. The beer garden sits next to the river and offers exquisite views of the old warehouses giving you a little glimpse into Sheffield’s industrial past. 14. Inc Rooftop Bar

Found atop the Krynkl in Sheffield’s Kelham Island, Inc is the city’s first rooftop bar. You can enjoy some refreshing drinks in this cool and sleek venue. They serve a range of gins, as well as some great cocktails and craft beer. Plenty of boxes ticked for a summer’s day if you ask us. Make sure you check it out. 15. The Fat Cat

One of the OG’s The Fat Cat has been around since the 1990s and is still going strong. They produce a range of specialist beers from their brewery and have won CAMRA award for the Pale Rider, which they recently announced will stop brewing. The traditional victorian pub fits in its industrial surroundings. Its walled beer garden is the perfect place to sample some fine ales – and a great place for young or old to chill with a beer. 16 The Stag’s Head

The flagship pub for the Thornbridge Taps, this pub is a great community pub for the summer. It has a great beer garden with its own play area for the kids. It serves amazing craft beer and traditional pub food to go with it. It’s brill, spacious place with a cosy fire and outdoor terrace making it one of the best beer gardens in Sheffield perfect for all weathers – no excuse not to be in there with a pint in hand this summer. 17. Fox and Duck

This is such a brilliant pub in Broomhill! It has a friendly environment and has live sports outside as well as inside. It has an incredible beer garden to enjoy – and are pet friendly. They have a wide variety of gins to enjoy, along with their great beers and ciders. Definitely, one of the beer gardens in Sheffield to try this summer.
