1. Saw Grinder’s Union

This is a beautiful venue hidden away in the ever-cool area of Kelham Island. It serves up refreshing cocktails, beers, and a range of spirits to be enjoyed in this well-designed and well-thought-out aesthetic. What I like about this beer garden is that it sits back away from the hustle and bustle of the street. The cobbled courtyard, scattered with benches, always has a great atmosphere and is a bar where you can while away the hours in the Sheffield sun.
If you’re looking for a place to enjoy the sun with friends and family over the summer, we couldn’t recommend it enough. It’s such a must when it comes to great outdoor bars in Sheffield.

2. Riverside Kelham

One of Kelham Island’s iconic venues, Riverside Kelham has a beautiful view of the river and has all the traditional pub vibes but with a hipster twist that is synonymous with Sheffield. The iconic venue is one of the best beer gardens in Sheffield and is always buzzing with energy and a cool place to while away the summer days with great tunes and proper beer.
It’s definitely one of the great al fresco drinking spots in Sheffield and one place we like to pass time until the sun goes down.

4. The Fat Cat

One of the OG’s The Fat Cat has been around since the 1990s and is still going strong. They produce a range of specialist beers from their brewery and have won CAMRA award for the Pale Rider, which they recently announced will stop brewing. Nestled in the heart of Kelham Island, the traditional victorian pub fits in its industrial surroundings. Its walled beer garden is the perfect place to sample some fine ales – and a great place for young or old to chill with a beer.
You may think this is a spot for a cold winter’s night and you’d be right. A warm fire, proper pies and real ales are the order here. But, it also makes the perfect spot to chill on a summers day outside in the beating heart of Sheffield’s one industrial past.

5. Dam House Bar & Restaurant

Situated on Crookes Valley Park beside a serene lake that makes the perfect backdrop for summertime fun, The Damhouse offers a great atmosphere to enjoy, surrounded by lush green grass, making for the perfect summer setting. They offer great value food and drinks to go along with the fun in the sun with pals.

Found attached to the Sheffield train station, The Tap is an absolutely stunning pub filled with charm and old-fashioned vibes. 8. Cambridge Street Collective – Beer Gardens Sheffield

Well, you wouldn’t think that this Sheffield spot was home to a nice beer garden. But, one of the newest spots in the Steel City Cambridge St. Collective, a food hall packed full of amazing vendors selling everything from Thai, to Mexican has a great seating area out front, which is surrounded by all the newly renovated parts of the city offering you a fresh and vibrant space that is fast becoming one of the most popular in the city.
Not only that, they also offer a terrace overlooking the city, so you can enjoy a hidden Sheffield beer garden that offers city skyline views.

9. Domo

Found in the heart of Kelham Island, Domo is a family-run Sardinian restaurant, bar and deli. You can sit and enjoy some of their brilliant small plates or some pizza & pasta dishes. whilst enjoying a glass of vino or a beer outside the iconic Eagle Works building.
The place drips coolness and vibes that make you want to stay for that extra Aperol spritz. A warm welcoming terrace is a thing of dreams and this one sends us to the coast of Italy with a sense of the sea air blowing in our faces, all whilst being in one of Sheffield’s amazing beer gardens.

10. The Nursery Tavern

The Nursery Tavern found on Ecclesall Rd, is a favourite of students and locals alike. It has a big beer garden that’s an absolute sun trap and always has good vibes. It’s a spot with a warm and vibrant atmosphere and one of Sheffield’s beer gardens where you meet up to watch the big game and enjoy a bit of banter. Situate on the legendary Ecclesall Road, The Lost & Found specialise in seasonal dishes, afternoon tea, and expertly crafted cocktails. The raised patio is like a secret garden that’s the perfect place to do some people watching alongside one of Sheffield’s busiest streets.

In what used to be Kelham Island Museum, the venue is now The Millowners Arms which serves up some great ol’ ales, small plates and street food. 14. The Nags Head

Bradfield Brewery’s first pub, located just a mile from the brewery, you can enjoy five different hand pulled Farmers Ales. It’s a big ol’ beer garden at Nag’s Head where you can enjoy a proper pint of local ale, which is what Sheffield is famous for with so many great real ales for such a small space.
As well as the usual open fires and warm welcomes that you’d expect from a local boozer this is one of the best beer gardens in Sheffield to enjoy a pint, maybe even a pie as well in the sunshine.

15. The Gardeners Rest

Another great find in the Kelham Island area, this community-owned pub in Neepsend serves a great selection of beer on tap and has a relaxed laid back vibe. They usually have art exhibitions and such going on, so always worth a visit. The beer garden sits next to the river and offers exquisite views of the old warehouses giving you a little glimpse into Sheffield’s industrial past.

16. Kelu

Kelu translates to sky in Sardinian dialect and is a sunset bar found in the heart of Sheffield’s coolest district, Kelham Island. The flagship pub for the Thornbridge Taps, this pub is a great community pub for the summer. It has a great beer garden with its own play area for the kids. It serves amazing craft beer and traditional pub food to go with it. It’s brill, spacious place with a cosy fire and outdoor terrace making it one of the best beer gardens in Sheffield perfect for all weathers – no excuse not to be in there with a pint in hand this summer.

This is such a brilliant pub in Broomhill! It has a friendly environment and has live sports outside as well as inside. It has an incredible beer garden to enjoy – and are pet friendly. They have a wide variety of gins to enjoy, along with their great beers and ciders. Definitely, one of the beer gardens in Sheffield to try this summer.

Coined as ‘the nicest Wetherspoons in Sheffield’, The Francis Newton has everything you’d expect from a Spoons, a decent and good value range of drinks to enjoy. It has a really great venue that has one of the beer gardens in Sheffield to visit with a group of friends and family this summer.
