The three other beaches to be featured in the list where Filey in 10th, Scarborough in 15th and Robin Hood’s Bay in 18th. How proud do these beaches make you feel to be Yorkshire? We truly do have some of the most spectacular beaches.

2,000 people took part in the survey by WWWF-UK in partnership with Sky Ocean Rescue. Sarah Young, head of marine policy at WWF-UK, said: “While we wait for travel restrictions to be lifted, there are a number of things we can be doing at home to protect our beautiful coastlines and ensure staycations can be enjoyed for years to come.

“Over the months ahead, Sky Ocean Rescue and WWF will be setting out the actions that we can take as individuals to become ocean heroes, while also encouraging stronger leadership from the UK Government to support vital ocean recovery that’s so urgently needed.”

According to The Sun, the study also found that half of the people that were polled love the beach because it makes them feel free, and helps them to clear their head and escape everyday life.

The beach and nature itself have a real ability to help us stay grounded and after a year in lockdown, we think all of us need to experience nature as much as possible.
