Bob Mortimer, an icon of British television and proud Yorkshireman, has won a BAFTA at last night’s ceremony.
Bob took home the BAFTA Television Award for Entertainment Performance at the 2026 ceremony last night for LOL: Last One Laughing UK, where he also ended up winning the first series itself.
It’s well deserved as Bob’s stand out moments in the series outshone the rest of the high caliber cast, which was a who’s who in British comedy.
Bob silly and surreal humour that made him so famous throughout the 90s and 00s and has led him to produce a series of novels and memorable panel show appearances won him the award.
There are so many memorable moments of Bob’s appearance on the show. But, one of the most talked about had to be Bob and Richard Ayoade during their brilliantly awkward “speed date” scene, which was also nominated for Memorable Moment award.
Bob is no stranger to the awards with repeat nominations alongside Paul Whitehouse for Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing.
Bob is fast becoming a national treasure and the BAFTA award is well deserved! We are proud Yorkshire folk here at The Yorkshireman.
