A trip to the Yorkshire coast is classically paired with fish and chips on a bench, staring out to sea after a brisk walk along the beach. And while you can still enjoy that seaside staple, this coastal village is also hiding one of the area’s real hidden gems.
Brambles Bistro is an independent, family-run steakhouse and bistro in the heart of the idyllic seaside village of Robin Hood’s Bay, just metres from the sea. The cosy restaurant serves up some of the best steak in Yorkshire in an intimate setting inside a former bakery. Guests can enjoy incredible Yorkshire beef sourced from local farms, with cuts to suit every taste.
It hits differently in winter, as you step in from the biting cold into a warm, cosy space and are greeted by a tiny bar serving cocktails, local ales and a great selection of wines — everything you need to warm up after a refreshing walk along the coast.
We enjoyed a prime fillet steak and the signature steak burger, the latter of which was an absolute whopper packed full of beef. It included a beef patty topped with pulled beef and fillet steak, with a bordelaise sauce for dipping.
From the first bite to the last, everything was tender and cooked exactly as requested. We also loved the variety of sauces on offer, with our favourite being the rich red wine sauce. Brambles Bistro prides itself on working with local suppliers to bring the authentic taste of the region. Fresh fish arrives daily from local markets, and the team proudly supports the best local bakeries and butchers.
The bistro is also well-loved for its gorgeous brunch dishes, making it the perfect spot for catching up with friends, a date night or a dedicated steak night. Brambles Bistro prides itself on creating a great overall dining experience, with excellent food at its heart.
