If you’re saddened that Channel 5’s All Creatures Great and Small has come to an end – until the Christmas special, that is – you’ll be pleased to know that Rachel Shenton is returning to our screens this weekend in a festive film.
That’s right, the annual return of A Very Yorkshire Christmas is upon us.
It may be a little early to start getting festive, but Channel 5 doesn’t think so. This Saturday, you can watch the festive favourite, which sees Shenton swap her Yorkshire accent, as Helen Herriot in All Creatures Great and Small, for an American one in this Christmas film set in Yorkshire. And it’s an absolute belter.
Filmed in Yorkshire, Shenton plays Jessica, an opera singer whose flight is delayed, leaving her stranded in the county. Finding herself in the fictional village of Pine Falls, she discovers that the only accommodation available is run by widower Andrew and his daughter, Katie. It’s got all the ingredients of a cheesy Hallmark Christmas film, and that’s exactly what it delivers.

Written by Karl Hall, known for I Am Not a Witch (2017), The Woman in White (2018) and Cordelia (2019), alongside Steven Nesbit, who also directed the film.
As the story unfolds, a blossoming romance develops, revealing Andrew’s remarkable talents as an artist. Jessica must now grapple with a difficult choice between her flourishing career and the allure of love.
If you think you’ll miss it, don’t worry; you can catch it anytime on My5 here.
