A couple of Yorkshire spots have managed to be featured in the coolest places to live in the UK thanks to a survey taken by health and fitness supplements brand Naturecan,
The supplement set up panels throughout the UK surveying 5,000 people throughout to find the coolest locations from each county and big city.
A range of factors were taken into account including the number of shops per head of population, the range of cultural events, the cringe one in our eyes of how ‘Instagrammble’, where the best features, and the popularity for use in films and TV shows.
There were also Instagram likes for each location that was monitored in order to come out with the top 50 locations. We enjoyed the fact that the locations were varied compared to other surveys with some others highlighted which will be great for tourism.

The oldest city in Britain, Ripon featured in 13th place and was the highest Yorkshire place ranked in the survey. Other places featured in the list where the suburb of Chapel Allerton in Leeds and Broomhill in Sheffield.
Coming in and taking the gold medal was the Cornish fishing village of Polperro, with Wells-next-the-sea in second and Marlow in Buckinghamshire in third.

Naturecan’s chief executive Andy Duckworth said: “All the 50 places on the list would have been worthy winners and show why the UK is such a beautiful place, loved by film makers and tourists from all over the world.
“What is interesting is how influential Instagram has become in boosting tourism in many of our top 50.”
He added: “It is a massive help for visitor numbers, too, if a popular film or TV show uses a town as a location.
“Hidden gems which are largely only visited by local tourists can find themselves being showcased throughout the world if they are pictured by the right influencer or featured in a movie.”
