Last weekend saw the opening of York Christmas Market, which takes over the city centre for a month every year. And, this time it has some absolute gems to enjoy – including Britain’s most nostalgic dessert – the classic crumble, which has been given a modern twist.
Crumbles has a stall on York Xmas market and they’re serving up the simple and sweet dessert the classic crumble drenched in custard. The viral treat can be found on Parliament Street with the rest of the festive huts selling their wares this Christmas. It’s the perfect dessert to keep you warm whilst there is a slight chill in the air.

Customers can choose from a range of crumble flavours and toppings, which are then lathered in tasty custard giving us that nostalgic reminder of school dinners. You can choose from cinnamon and apple, rhubarb, and apple and blackberry. At around £6 per crumble, it’s easy on the wallet for sure.

If you want to tart it up about optional extras can be added for 50p each. And you can choose from topping like choc chips, biscoff, fudge bits, meringue and more.
We went and visited York market to see it for ourselves and were left feeling festive and satisfied. Going for a cinnamon and apple crumble with s’mores toppings, which consisted of chocolate and toast marshmallows covering the crumble and melted using a nifty blow torch. We enjoyed both the taste and the show of it all.

Every bit was filled with flavour and the sweetness of the toasted marshmallows and melted chocolate bits really complimented the festive flavours of the cinnamon and apple crumble. The team is heavy-handed with the custard, too.

We predict this place will have queues down the street this Christmas, but it’s definitely worth it.
