Filling the headlines at the minute is the news that Phillip Schofield has stepped down from ITV‘s This Morning after 20 years on the sofa – and an awkwardly timed question took place on Family Fortunes.
Schofield announced his departure from the show on Saturday in an emotional Instagram post which read: “I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning. But recently, This Morning itself has become the story.
“Throughout my career in TV – including the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind. I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love.

“So I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future. I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me – especially This Morning’s amazing viewers – and I’ll see you all for the Soap Awards next month.”
Holly Willoughby is set to remain on the daytime show presenting alongside the This Morning family.
The popular quiz show Family Fortunes presented by Gino D’Acampo, accidentally rubbed salt in the wound with a badly timed question asking: “Name someone who appears on the TV show This Morning.”

Obviously, the show was pre-recorded some time ago and the players got the top answer easily. As you’d have to be living under a rock not to know the answer to that one.
But, the timing didn’t go unnoticed by viewers who took to social media with one person writing: “Unfortunate choice of Family Fortunes category tonight,” LADbible reported.
Another said: “This is awkward. Family Fortunes got a question about This Morning, oh Lord and Philip Schofield is the spot prize…”
Alison Hammond and Dermot Oleary have taken over the presenting duties of the show today and gave a quick thank you to Phillip Schofield for his time on the show.
They addressed his recent, saying: “We can’t start today’s show without paying tribute to the man who spent the last two decades sitting on the This Morning sofa, Phillip Schofield.
“Everyone on and off screen at ITV want to say a huge thank you to Phil for what he’s done to make the show such a success over the last 21 years.
“We all know he’s one of the best live television broadcasters this country has ever had. We wish him all the best for the future.”
