After the success of the first season that saw comedian Johnny Vegas follow his dream to create a glamping spot with a difference, Channel 4 has commissioned a second series of Johnny Vegas: Carry on Glamping, which will follow Vegas navigates the challenges of expanding the site and developing the business.
An unlikely candidate for creating a glamping site would be TV legend Johnny Vegas, who, after what started as a drunk purchase, created a glamping site Field Of Dreams Glamping in Nidderdale in the Yorkshire Dales.
It’s been an emotional roller coaster watching the hilarious comedian make his glamping dream a reality. There were some amazing high and some tear-jerking moments. And, the finished project is spectacular. Well, the proof is in the pudding, Johnny Vegas’ glamping site ‘Field of Dreams’ is proving very popular with people, and spaces have filled up fast.
The original four-part Channel 4 series documented Johnny and his assistant Bev’s journey into the world of Glamping has the aim to create the coolest glamping site out of old repurposed vehicles with the help of vintage bus enthusiasts. The programme ‘Johnny Vegas: Carry on Glamping’ is still available to watch online here.
After struggling to find a plot to make this glamping spot, Breaks Fold Farm ended up being the home for Johnny Vegas’ mad and ambitious idea.
And now, due to planning restrictions, expansion was not possible at the original site on Breaks Fold Farm, so Vegas and Dixon have a task in the second series of Johnny Vegas: Carry On Glamping of hunting for a new home for the amazing collection of antique vehicles.
Johnny Vegas: Carry on Glamping series two will see the pair acquire some more quirky vehicles to repurpose into glamping stays including an old helicopter!
Named the ‘Field of Dreams’ Glamping site, it is a unique place to stay in which you can pick from five vintage vehicles to stay in the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The 2-acre site enables each vehicle to benefit from its own private space, with its private bathroom inside a vintage horsebox with unique copperhead showerheads!
Johnny shared an emotional message via his Twitter writing: “As the sun sets and our first guests arrive tomorrow please let me thank everyone involved in #jvglamping Mam & Dad (Patricia the bus, Lol the upcycled bar) are together on this field of dreams. Emotional day but feel like it was totally worth it. Take care and sleep tight”.
What’s next for Johnny Vegas and his assistant bev, who knows? But, we’d love to see him get stuck into another project, as his creativity shines through.
So, what five vehicles are there to choose from?
