A new Channel 5 psychological drama is coming to our screens with a right Yorkshire cast. Firstly, Eleanor Tomlinson, who grew up in Beverley, East Yorkshire, is known for the likes of One Day and Poldark. Next is Matthew Lewis, aka Neville Longbottom from Harry Potter, who’s from Leeds and lastly, Callum Woodhouse, who’s not Yorkshire, but is part of the main cast in the wonderful All Creatures Great and Small.
But, what is 5’s The Fortune about?

Produced by Lonesome, a new Channel 5 psychological drama is heading to our screens, and it features a seriously strong Yorkshire connection. First up is Eleanor Tomlinson, who grew up in Beverley and is known for roles in Poldark and One Day. Joining her is Matthew Lewis, best known as Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter franchise and originally from Leeds. Also starring is Callum Woodhouse, familiar to viewers from All Creatures Great and Small.
But what is Channel 5’s The Fortune about?

Produced by Lonesome Pine Productions, the team behind The Inheritance and The Feud, the new drama follows Amanda Blakefield, played by Tomlinson, whose life is turned upside down after she unexpectedly inherits a huge fortune from a man she has never met.
Up until that moment, Amanda had been living a happy life with her husband Jimmy, played by Lewis, and their son Luke. But things soon begin to unravel as she becomes entangled with the mysterious Worral family, led by Martin Worral, played by Denis Lawson. As Amanda is drawn deeper into the family’s dark history and long-buried secrets, her own family’s lives are thrown into turmoil.
A release date for The Fortune has not yet been announced, but it already sounds like gripping, edge-of-your-seat television with a stellar cast attached.

Other cast members include Rebecca Front as Martin’s wife, Fiona, Callum Woodhouse as their son Anthony, Stephen Tompkinson as farm worker Boots Maddison, Paula Wilcox as Amanda’s mother Linda, Danielle Walters as Amanda’s best friend Sandy, and Nina Wadia as solicitor Laura.
Paul Testar, Commissioning Editor at Channel 5, said: “The Fortune explores the fragility of family and the ripple effects of long-buried truths, all anchored by a brilliant cast led by Eleanor Tomlinson. This is a drama that promises to keep audiences hooked from the very first minute, and we’re delighted to be working with Lonesome Pine again after the success of The Inheritance and The Feud.”
