First-Look Trailer For ‘Giant’ The Prince Naseem Hamed Biopic Has Dropped

Telling the inspirational story of British-Yemeni boxing sensation Prince Naseem Hamed‘s hailing from Sheffield, the first trailer for Giant has been released, starring James Bond star Pierce Brosnan as Brendan Ingle, the Irish-born trainer who shaped Prince Naz’s destiny.

The new sports biopic is on the horizon, fittingly produced by Sylvester Stallone, known for the iconic Rocky films. Giant charts Naz’s rise from working-class roots in Wincobank, Sheffield, to one of the most electrifying figures in boxing history. He became known for his flair, speed, and knockout power as well as his ring swagger during the 90s.

Naz grew up in a tight-knit Yemeni family, one of nine siblings, in the heart of Sheffield. At just seven years old, he was taken by his father to Wincobank boxing gym, a move prompted by schoolyard bullying and a desire to toughen up both Naz and his brother.

The heart of the film is the relationship with Trainer, Brendan Ingle, which forms the emotional core. The dynamic between the two is what’s set to be one of Giant’s most compelling threads.

Naz is portrayed by Amir El-Masry, known for his standout roles in The Night Manager and The Crown, bringing both charisma and intensity to the ring. Playing Brendan Ingle is a near-unrecognisable Pierce Brosnan, stepping far from his suave James Bond image to embody the gritty, complex character of the Irish-born trainer who shaped Prince Naz’s destiny.

The film is written and directed by Rowan Athale, whose credits include Gangs of London, and is being developed by True Brit Entertainment, fresh off producing Danny Dyer’s Marching Powder. With Stallone lending his boxing film expertise and a stellar British cast in place, Giant looks set to deliver both action and heart.

While the trailer is now live, an official release date is still under wraps. But if the early buzz is anything to go by, Giant is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated British films of the year.
