Well, there are four of Yorkshire’s villages that have been named in a list as some of the poshest in Great Britain. The Telegraph has compiled its annual list naming one in both East, West, South and North Yorkshire. Whether you’re looking to move to newer pastures or just like having a peek at how the other half live, these villages are well worth a look.

East Yorkshire – Newton on Derwent (AVERAGE HOUSE PRICE £648,539)

Located between the historic city of York and Pocklington, the picturesque village of Newton on Derwent is said to have its roots in farming and is praised for its local cricket club, Woodhouse Grange and its closeness to the wild swimming spot with four lakes and five saunas.
North Yorkshire Follifoot (AVERAGE HOUSE PRICE £810,432)

Located in North Yorkshire’s ‘ Golden Triangle’, the poetically named Follifoot is located in proximity to the spa town of Harrogate and is praised for its untouched feel. Offering a lovely pub, The Harewood Arms, named after the nearby estate of the 8th Earl, David Lascelles.
South Yorkshire – Cawthorne (AVERAGE HOUSE PRICE £594,734)

A once-iron and coal mining town, Cawthorne is a stunning commuter village, which has Cannon Hall, once home to the Spencer-Stanhope family, a 70-acre site that also has the famous Cannon Hall Farm, which is home to a fantastic farm shop and restaurants as well. The newspaper writers that ‘The local pub is named after the dynasty, too – The Spencer Arms.’
West Yorkshire – Scarcroft AVERAGE HOUSE PRICE £722,659

In between Wetherby and Leeds, the village of Scarcroft is praised for its blend of ‘modern amenities and glorious Yorkshire countryside.’ It backs on to a nature retreat and also has a golf club and busy local pub.
