In a touching tribute to long-time friend and work partner Si King, Hairy Biker Dave Myers has praised his fellow chef, sharing with fans how supportive he has been throughout his cancer journey.

Describing his pal, Si King, as ‘indispensable’, Dave shared in a recent update to fans that his fellow presenter has been accompanying him to hospital appointments, as well as cooking him meals and acting as a support system for Myers.

Speaking on their BBC Radio Cumbria, Myers said: “The very first week before all the treatment started you have a week of going round hospitals, it was enormous pressure on Lil my partner, but Si was the one who drove me around for a week,

Adding: “I’m doing all right, I wouldn’t say I was the best I’ve ever been, I’ve had quite a lot of chemotherapy but it’s working.

“The numbers are going in the right direction, my hair is growing back, my beard is coming back.”

Dave Myers also revealed how his friend Si was helping on their shared Agony Uncles podcast, revealing: “Mrs Myers is away for the week, so Simon has come to look after me and take me to the ‘hospical’ on Thursday. It’s not what you call like a day out.”

King has been spotted working solo over the summer months, taking on the Hairy Biker’s festival commitments alone while co-chef Dave recovers.

The pair shot to fame following the release of their BBC show The Hairy Biker’s Cookbook back in 2004, and have been firm TV staples ever since.

The show led to an array of BBC spin-off series, including The Hairy Bikers’ Food Tour of Britain, The Hairy Bikers: Mums Know Best and their most recent show, The Hairy Bikers Go North – which saw the duo showcase the best of Yorkshire, Cumbria and surrounding areas as they returned to their home regions for the Christmas period.

While Dave continues to recover with his family, he is still partaking in the duo’s Agony Uncles podcast from home and remains in good spirits.
