Happy Valley creator Sally Wainwright is back with a new drama filmed in Hebden Bridge. This time she’s swapped out the police uniforms for guitars, amps and plenty of attitude in the new Riot Women, which centres around a female punk-rock band.
And, its star-studded cast has now been revealed. This includes Lorraine Ashbourne from Bridgerton, Joanna Scanlan from The Thick Of It, Tasmin Greig from Friday Night Dinner, Rosali Craig from 1899 and Amelia Bullmore from the recent drama The Jetty.
The series explores not only their musical journey but also their personal lives. Delving into how they manage the complexities of balancing work, children, relationships, dating, and other everyday pressures.

Sally Wainwright, creator, writer, and executive producer of the show, expressed excitement for the project, saying: “I think I am more excited about this than anything else I have ever written. Ever. Oh my God. We have five of the most fabulous actresses on the planet playing the Riot Women. It’s scarily exciting.”
Acting royalty Last Tango in Halifax’s Anne Reid and The Royle Family‘s Sue Johnston will also feature in The six-part series, Riot Women.
It promises to be an exciting series, especially after Sall Wainwright’s past shows, which have all managed to hit the mark.
