The north may be getting an exciting new water park with a 116-bed hotel and floating lodges! The new water park would only be one hour away from Sheffield and it would have a zip-line and slides. How great does that sound?!
Plans have been submitted to Derby County Council to build Amber Rock resort in the Crich Quarry which is 44 acres. The developers have released an artist’s impression of how it could look, and we have to say, we are impressed!

Derbyshire Live has reported that the plot would have 210 holiday apartments, climbing walls, a bowling alley, zip-line, a sports hall and a swim-up bar – as well as a water park built on two levels, featuring waterslides, a raft ride, a lazy river, an outdoor pool and a swim-up bar. As well as that it would have 148 star bale lodges of which seven would float on the quarry’s lake.
On a website that is hosting the consultation for Amber Rock resort, it describes their vision saying: “Combining a mix of eco-friendly accommodation and exciting leisure activities, our vision for Amber Rock will restore the old quarry set within this beautiful rural backdrop, preserve its heritage, and boost the local economy. We want the Amber Rock resort to become an asset for the community.”

They say it will boost the local economy as “The Amber Rock resort will actually increase the environmental value of the area through improved biodiversity and added landscape amenities.”
As well they believe that they will be preserving the environment by “Celebrating the unique features and history of its location, Amber Rock will also preserve the local environment and protect the community for years to come, ensuring the site will never be used for mineral extraction or future industrial use.”

Just 25 miles south of Sheffield village of Crich the development would be built using the quarry and would create 200 jobs as well as 100 full-time and part-time jobs once open.
They also intend to use the quarry faces as climbing walls and a zip wire and it will also include Plans also include a restaurant, diving platform, boating lake, fitness suite, a sports hall with four badminton courts, a heritage centre, bike hire, crèche, play area and mini-golf.
