As the weather cools and autumn sets in, it can only mean one thing – Hull Fair is back in one of our favourite Yorkshire cities! Europe’s largest travelling fair is ready to bring bright neon lights, thrill rides, street food, and fun for all the family to Hull this October.
Be Part of Hull’s Ancient Traditions
Incredibly, the fair was established in 1279, when a royal charter granted by Edward I enabled Hull to host an annual fair. However, it wasn’t full of rides and candy floss. Think more of a market selling cloth and manufactured goods to people from across northern Europe. It has grown considerably since then and become the fun fair we know and love, while still giving an insight into one of the city’s most popular and ancient traditions.
Walton Street Car Park in west Hull is transformed into a festival of fun and entertainment for memorable nights. The 2025 edition attracted more than 500,000 visitors, and this year’s fair promises to be bigger than ever. This year’s event is the 732nd and runs from 9th to 17th October.

Thrills, Frills, and Plenty of Food
What can you expect at Hull Fair? If you are a first-timer, there’s a host of exciting and entertaining things on offer. Let’s start with the rides. You’ll have your pick of more than 250 rides and attractions. They range from gentle, traditional rides like classic carousels to thrill rides and white-knuckle rollercoasters like the Elevate 85 (85m-high Starflyer), Dexter Hackett’s Joker ride, and this year’s new addition, the Sartori Techno Jump ride.
What about the food? We hear you cry! Don’t panic, you won’t be going hungry. You’ll have a wide choice of traditional favourites such as toffee apples, candy floss, and doughnuts and also BBQ street food, patties, ‘old-school puddings’ like lip-smacking crumbles. In fact, we think you’ll be bursting at the seams by the time you leave.
