Jane McDonald is Yorkshire’s sweetheart. She recently visited Yorkshire for a Channel 5 show Jane McDonald: My Yorkshire where she showcased the beauty of her home county. And, this weekend she featured on fellow Yorkshire folk James Martin’s Saturday Morning where she revealed her favourite part of Yorkshire.
The singer and presenter made headlines with her comparison of the seaside town of Bridlington to the Maldives. She recollected her times holidaying in Brid as a child, and whilst chilling on a deckchair on the beach said: “You can keep the Maldives, I’m sticking to Brid.”

She revealed that he would be returning to Yorkshire to kick off her new tour in June. She will be performing for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee concert, to which she said: “It’s a time in history that we should all be celebrating and it’s going to be spectacular.”
Her favourite place in Yorkshire may come as a surprise to some and may be obvious to others. But, when asked by James, she offered up Wakefield, her hometown as her favourite place to be in Yorkshire.

She told James: “I think probably Wakefield [is my favourite place in Yorkshire], I know it sounds a bit weird that but I love being at home. I’m away such a lot so my favourite place is just my home, when I get back and I can kick back and relax.”
She said: “I’m always on the go, I’m always away but I’ve got such a great filming team and we have such a laugh. And I get into it, I’m not bothered what I look like in a swimming costume anymore – I don’t care, so I put my cossie on and I love to get involved.”
