We recently reported a celeb spot in the historic market town of Knaresborough in the form of 24’s Kiefer Sutherland and it has now been revealed that he’s in the North of England along with Pitch Perfect star Rebel Wilson for a Sky and Future Artist Entertainment production Tinsel Town.
Also filming at Leeds’ Versa Studios, Tinsel Town is directed by Bank of Dave’s Chris Foggin and will be a Sky Cinema must-watch for Christmas 2025, with the UK’s Mister Smith Entertainment launching sales at the upcoming EFM.
Sutherland is playing a Hollywood action star with a bloated ego who’s shocked after his iconic action franchise is suddenly cancelled. Career losing traction he heads to England hoping to find a role on the West End, but, instead, finds himself in an eccentric town’s production of Cinderalla. Whether or not this will be a ‘Yorkshire’ town or just stay vaguely Northern – or Northern at all – is yet to be seen. But, wouldn’t it be nice after the success of shows like All Creatures Great and Small to have a good ol’ Yorkshire vibe to a place? Only time will tell.
The Script has been written by Frazer Flintham, Adam Brown and Piers Ashworth with additional material by Jake Brunger. And produced by Matt Williams and Pascal Degove via the UK’s Future Artists Entertainment.
Julia Stuart, Director of Original Film at Sky, said: “We are so proud of this uplifting and charming comedy, and we can’t wait for it to come to Sky Cinema this Christmas. It’s feel-good, festive and funny, and we hope will have something for everyone to enjoy.”
Matt Williams of Future Artists Entertainment added: “Continuing our long-standing successful Sky relationship in assembling the best of British talent in front and behind the camera, I am unbelievably excited to deliver this hilarious and heartwarming Christmas Comedy to the screen.
“Tinsel Town is sure to join the pantheon of classic Christmas films, and I am thrilled we have gathered such an incredible ensemble of British talent led by the incredible Kiefer Sutherland and Rebel Wilson.”
Sutherland said: “I’m thrilled to be working back in the UK and with director Chris Foggin. The cast is fantastic, and I can’t wait to tell this story.”
Wilson added: “I love British Christmas movies – because in Australia we’re just on the beach having a BBQ – and so now I feel like I get to have a classic British Christmas – freezing my t***s off but laughing and sledding all the way!”
We do love A Very Yorkshire Christmas starring All Creatures Rachel Shenton prior to her role as Helen Herriot on the hit Channel 5 series sporting an American accent, not a Yorkshire one funnily enough. So, let’s hope we can have a grand Yorkshire festive film to get stuck into Christmas 2025.
